- Canadian Red Cross First Contact phone line volunteers take calls (cell phone provided) from refugee claimants who have recently arrived in the country and are seeking information and help with accessing local services and resources. These volunteer positions are suitable to mature individuals who can make a long-term commitment and who are able to incorporate their role as an on-call volunteer into their everyday lives. - Must be able to commit to one to two days per week (24 hour on-call shift). Additionally there will be monthly volunteer meetings held in Burnaby. 2 year commitment required (reference letters avail. after 1 year)
