  • Assignment: Educate residents on keeping our coastal waters clean and healthy. Purpose: To build the Dogwood Initiative Esquimalt supported list, help stop the proposed inner harbour marina project and help stop Tankers from entering our coastal ecosystem. Tasks: Visit residents door to door collecting signatures, emails and names. Partake in canvassing training and tasty treats! Canvassing Bonuses: You will enjoy exercise, fresh air, discovering your comfort zone plus building your communication and public speaking skills. Canvassing is the fast track to gaining access and opportunity in Non-profit work as well as the greatest way to becoming an expert on the issues! Prizes awarded to canvasser with the most emails collected! Some fun tips about canvassing: • You’re always with a friend! • We’ll feed you home baked snacks! • 75% of all British Columbians support a tanker ban which means that you’ll have a higher success rate than most canvassing groups... less doors slamming is good for the self esteem • You’ll be helping everyone who depends on our coast ensure a sustainable future for themselves and their families. Time Commitment: Training is on March 2nd at 3:00 4pm to 6 pm once or twice a week for 3 weeks beginning on March 2nd. Approximately 10 hours total. Preferred Skills: - Passionate about environmental issues, BC’s Coastline, British Columbia, Canadian Politics, and / or climate change - Cooperative skills - Creative - Enjoy interacting with the public
