April 1, 2008 - Baraa Ali Safaa arrived from Iraq in the summer of 2007 to study at the University College of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford.
An outstanding community volunteer who gives his time to a variety of community events, he is one of Volunteer Abbotsford's star volunteers and was chosen Volunteer of the month for January 2008.
Baraa is a people person - he mentors and inspires fellow students to volunteer.
He plays the Spanish Guitar and sings in a number of languages. He also teaches Salsa dancing in his spare time at UCFV.
Baraa is an exceptional example of giving back to his community. He does it with a smile and a willingness that is infectious.
